Recruitment and Selection:
Consultation
Consult with internal customer (Manager) to establish outputs/KPAs, knowledge, skills and behavioural competencies needed for the position.
Liaise with employment agencies and Labour brokers regarding fee structure, candidate availability and skills matching – build collaborative relationships with the agencies.
Agree on process and timeframes.
Verify specified EE targets and where necessary propose corrective action/solutions.
Evaluate applications against position profile to compile shortlist.
Process
- Obtain staff requisition and revert incomplete staff requisitions back to the Line Manager
- Draft and distribute advertisement
- Complete paper screening
- Perform psychometric evaluation and assessment
- Conduct interviews
- Complete reference checking
- Draft appointment letters
- Arrange medical testing
- Arrange proficiency testing
Feedback
Provide verbal and written feedback to Line Manager and unsuccessful candidate if and when required.
Assist Line Manager with identifying development areas.
Provide and arrange psychometric testing – conduct Thomas International PPAs and all psychometric testing for apprentices.
Provide the necessary information in the event of a dispute.
Administration
Complete post interview administration e.g. paper screening checklist, interview report and records.
Analyse trends and provide statistics to Senior Manager for basis of monthly report to the EM.
Induction
Assist with the development of an induction programme. Co-ordinate and conduct the relevant induction.
Project Management
Responsible for the yearly recruitment and selection of apprentices – conduct benchmarking exercise to ensure that the assessment package meets the needs of the company, e.g. mental alertness etc. Assist training school with the selection criteria.
Responsible for the yearly tender process for Labour brokers – set the criteria and assist strategic purchasing in the adjudication process as well as provide feedback on service levels.
Provide training to Line Managers and Unions on recruitment and selection practices.
Supervisory functions
Perform supervisory functions/duties e.g.
Responsible for weekly allocation of work by prioritising the incoming workload and allocating the “files” according to operation requirements, level of position to match the subordinates’ strength and experience
Provide a weekly progress report to the Senior Manager
Provide on the job training e.g.
Provide feedback to subordinates on interviews they conducted (development areas)
Provide guidance to subordinates on all recruitment and selection duties/functions if and when required
Conduct monthly meetings with staff
Complete audits on post-administration to ensure all record keeping is completed for future reference
