An award-winning accounting and tax advisory firm is seeking an R&D Assistant Manager to join their Cape Town-based Business Tax department.
Reporting to senior leadership , you will contribute to the R&D claim process, managing a client portfolio focused on software clients. You will conduct detailed tax risk analysis, identify tax-efficient opportunities, and provide line management and mentorship to junior team members.

- Manage end-to-end delivery of a diverse portfolio of R&D tax claims, with a strong focus on software and technology-driven clients, from SMEs through to large, complex businesses
- Oversee the full claim lifecycle, including preparation of technical reports and supporting financial analysis tailored to software development activities
- Conduct detailed tax and risk assessments to ensure the strength and integrity of R&D claims, including review of relevant tax computations
- Develop and refine claim methodologies based on a deep understanding of client systems, development processes, and technical data
- Partner with senior stakeholders to identify and implement tax-efficient opportunities within innovative software environments
- Take ownership of internal operations, including billing, work-in-progress management, and overall project delivery
- Provide line management, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior team members within a growing specialist R&D tax team
Professional Qualifications

| Finance, Accounting And Assurance Services | BCom. or BSc degree Qualified ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) or CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) (Beneficial). Proven experience managing the entire R&D claim process, including technical reporting and financial assessments. Previous experience managing a dedicated client portfolio.
