Job Description

Miral Welfare Foundation is an NGO that supports vulnerable children and empowers children with disabilities in the community. We are looking for an expert in the fields of health/social sciences to work as a Program Officer to support the organization in meeting its objectives and grow their career while working for the organization

PURPOSE OF RECRUITMENT

Miral Welfare Foundation is an NGO that’s supports and empowers children with disabilities in the community. We are looking for an expertise in social sciences to work as intern in Health and Disability Awareness program.

Key Deliverables

  • The Program Officer will coordinate and conduct field activities including handling sponsored children, report writing, data management, disability awareness creation, health, and rehabilitation issues of children with disabilities. Other duties include.
  •  Assisting in the management of sponsored children in the community
  •  Assisting in child health follow-ups
  •  Organizing Awareness training and Medical Outreach activities in the community
  •  Linking the beneficiaries with other relevant bodies
  •  Assisting the project managers as requested
  •  Conversant with Child rights and advocacy
  •  Demonstrate ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  •  The ability to communicate fluently in English, Swahili, and Dholuo will be an added advantage.
  •  Conducting a medical health Checkup for the sponsored children
  •  Maintain and update the client’s profile

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma holder in Health/Public Health or Social Work, Social sciences on human services from recognized institutions
  •  At least 3 years’ work experience in public health or social work will be advantageous
  •  Experience with assessment tools and data entry software
  •  Working for over 1-year experience with OVCs and NGO

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies

  •  Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as reporting, evaluating, and planning
  •  Ability to maintain positive, collaborative, productive relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  •  Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to devise creative solutions to complex problems and issues
  •  Conversant with Child rights and advocacy
  •  Strong education foundation in social work and community development
  •  Proficient in computer and organizational skills; ability to use other digital tools for data entry, research, and data collection purposes.
  •  The ability to communicate fluently in English, Swahili. Dholuo language will be an added advantage.
