Job Description

Drawing on its expertise in rapid response and emergency management of nutritional crises in the areas most in need in the DRC, ACF has successfully deployed large-scale projects addressing the nutritional crisis in Congo thanks to the support of several local and international partners such as the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS), the Ministry of Public Health of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) among others.

Key Deliverables

  • To help ensure the smooth running of the program by providing technical and supervisory skills through on-site presence;
  • Provide organizational and technical support to field activities;
  • To provide technical support to the psychosocial facilitator teams and to work towards the development of their skills;
  • Participate in defining and achieving team objectives.
  • Supporting community relays and health center staff in the use of the referral/counter-referral circuit by ensuring proper understanding and use of this tool;
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of training sessions for the team (SMSP, sectors) as well as for other partners

Mission 2: To provide guidance and manage the implementation of mental health programs:

  • Ensure compliance with the ACF protocol in patient care;
  • Supervise the teams while ensuring compliance with safety instructions, rules and procedures;
  • Please note the group sizes: maximum 8 people, adult group/child group
  • Ensure the implementation of the activities planned in the program and adherence to the defined activity schedule.

Mission 3: Assist the program manager in data analysis

  • Collect the data collection tools and ensure that they are properly filled out;
  • Enter the collected data into the computer system
  • Collect and correct weekly and monthly reports;
  • Participate in the analysis and validation of activity reports
  • Write reports that allow the program manager to have a comprehensive analysis of all activities;
  • Write recommendations for the project's direction

Mission 4: Participate in research in mental health and psychosocial support.

  • Develop methodologies for studies;
  • Collects the data necessary for the research;
  • Analyze the data;
  • Compile and write activity reports;
  • Write recommendations for the direction of the project.

Mission 5: Participate in the collection of information regarding the mental health needs of beneficiaries.

  • Knowing how to identify, in collaboration with psychosocial facilitators, groups of individuals who are more vulnerable and in need of psychological support
  • Observation and collection of information regarding the mental health needs of beneficiaries during program activities.
  • Report this information systematically in each activity report

Mission 6: Maintain strict confidentiality

  • Ensure respect for the confidentiality of data, which is the property of the beneficiaries of the ACF project;
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding the content of clinical interviews, except for exchanges with the psychologist in charge.

Mission 7: Support the SMSP program manager in project management

  • Representation of the SMSP sector and participation in certain meetings as needed and according to the files being monitored internally and externally
  • Capitalize on ACF's field experiences and contribute to strategic analysis in terms of capacity building, research and communication in the SMSP sector
  • Enriching ACF's SMSP technical capitalization.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities

Degree/Education Level/Experience:

  • Master's degree in clinical psychology (Bac+5 level)
  • Knowledge of stress management and psychological trauma
  • Knowledge of psychological first aid and therapeutic group facilitation techniques
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations

Required skills

  • Knowledge of the context of North Kivu and its various aspects (geographic, historical, cultural, sociological, linguistic) is desirable.
  • French spoken and written.
  • Availability, mobility and flexibility.
  • Proficiency in the regional languages ​​spoken in North Kivu
  • A sense of confidentiality and maturity are required.
  • Good knowledge of psychological care and individual and group psychosocial support, for adults and children
  • Good knowledge of the management of psychological trauma
  • Good knowledge of child development
