Job Description

  • The Land Surveyor is responsible for measuring, mapping, and delineating the earth's surface to establish official land boundaries, topographical layouts, and construction reference points.
  • The incumbent will work closely with engineering and construction teams to provide precise spatial data, site maps, and elevation profiles required for accurate project planning, design, and execution.

Key Deliverables

  • Conduct precise land, boundary, and topographical surveys using advanced surveying equipment (e.g., Total Station, GNSS/GPS receivers, auto levels, and laser scanners).
  • Establish primary control networks, bench marks, and reference points for ongoing civil works and construction projects.
  • Measure elevations, angles, distances, and coordinates to map terrain, obstacles, and existing infrastructure.
  • Translate engineering designs and blueprints onto physical ground coordinates for construction layout
  • Monitor structures during construction to verify verticality, alignment, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Perform as-built surveys upon project completion to document final construction layouts.
  • Process raw field survey data using computer-aided design (CAD) and surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS).
  • Prepare detailed topographical maps, cross-sections, contour plans, and boundary survey reports.
  • Maintain accurate survey logs, calculation books, and digital archives of all site measurements.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, quantity surveyors, project managers, and architects to resolve site boundary or elevation discrepancies.
  • Advise management on land constraints, topographical challenges, and site feasibility factors prior to project commencement.
  • Enforce and adhere to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards during field operations, particularly in active construction zones or near traffic and heavy machinery.
  • Ensure routine calibration, maintenance, and secure handling of all surveying instruments and field gear.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Surveying and Geoinformatics, Geomatics, or a related field.
  • 5 to 7 years of proven field surveying experience within civil engineering, building construction, or industrial project environments.
  • Proficiency in operating modern surveying equipment (Total Stations, RTK GPS/GNSS).
  • Strong competence in CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and geospatial data processing.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, physical fitness for field operations, integrity, and good communication skills.
