The Job

The Waiter / Waitress is the face of the restaurant for every guest. This role is responsible for delivering warm, attentive, and knowledgeable table service that brings our food, drinks, and atmosphere to life. Working under the direction of the Restaurant Supervisor, the successful candidate ensures each guest feels welcomed, cared for, and eager to return

Key Deliverables

Guest Experience & Service 

  • Greet guests promptly and warmly, escort them to their tables, and present menus with confidence. 
  • Take accurate food and beverage orders, answer questions about ingredients, allergens, and specials, and make recommendations that suit guest preferences. 
  • Serve courses in the correct sequence, check back regularly, and anticipate guest needs before they are asked. 
  • Handle guest complaints calmly and courteously, resolving issues directly or escalating to the Restaurant Supervisor when appropriate. 

Operational Excellence 

  • Set up, maintain, and reset tables to Essence standards before, during, and after service. 
  • Process payments accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system and balance checks at the end of each shift. 
  • Keep the dining room, service stations, and side stations clean, organised, and fully stocked throughout service. 
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and licensing regulations, including responsible alcohol service. 

Teamwork & Communication 

  • Communicate clearly with kitchen and bar teams to ensure orders are prepared correctly and delivered on time. 
  • Support colleagues during busy periods, assist with running food and drinks, and help new team members learn the standards. 
  • Attend pre-shift briefings, training sessions, and team meetings as directed by the Restaurant Supervisor. 

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  1. High school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. A minimum of 2-3 years’ proven experience in high-end hospitality, fine dining, or top-tier restaurant environments.  
  3. Demonstrable track record of delivering polished, attentive table service in a fast-paced, premium venue.  
  4. Prior experience using a point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately handling cash, card, and till reconciliation. 

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies. 

  • Strong teamwork experience within a structured front-of-house operation, including support for colleagues during peak service. 
  • Excellent spoken English, refined interpersonal skills, and the confidence to engage discerning guests with professionalism. 
  • Current food safety and allergen awareness certification is preferred; equivalent training will be verified during induction. 
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol and hold, or be eligible to obtain, any required local licensing certifications. 
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts. 
  • Comfortable lifting trays, plates, and glassware safely. 
  • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. 
  • Smart, well-groomed appearance
