JOB DESCRIPTION

Enabel is implementing the Agri Kivu project in North and South Kivu, aiming to strengthen local agricultural value chains, improve productivity, competitiveness and market access for small producers, while contributing to the socio-economic resilience of the population.

The expert will contribute to developing, structuring and supporting promising agri-food sectors (Cocoa, Coffee, Maize, Rice, Horticulture, etc.) in collaboration with public, private and civil society actors.

Key Deliverables

Under the hierarchical supervision of the Project Manager, the Expert.ea's role is:

  • Conducting diagnostics of agricultural value chains (analysis of links, constraints, opportunities),
  • Together with implementing partners and based on conflict sensitivity recommendations for value chains in each intervention area, identify and prioritize promising value chains for the North & South Kivu area,
  • Supporting partners in their assistance to farmers' organizations, cooperatives and agri-food SMEs in structuring and professionalizing their operations, and ensuring quality control,
  • Supporting the development of public-private partnerships and inclusive financing mechanisms,
  • Strengthening the technical and organizational capacities of actors in the supply chain,
  • Contribute to technical reports and the documentation of best practices,
  • Integrate agroecological, climate, and conflict sensitivity approaches into the implementation of activities.
  • Promoting digital innovation and ICT tools in the development of sectors,

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities

Nationality: Democratic Republic of Congo,

  • Master's degree (Bac + 5) in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Economics or a related field.
  • Professional experience of at least 5 years in agricultural development and value chain structuring,
  • Experience in supporting farmers' organizations, agricultural SMEs or rural development projects,
  • Knowledge of the challenges facing the agricultural sector in the DRC (North Kivu is highly valued)
  • Capacity in economic and organizational analysis of supply chains,
  • Skills in project management and monitoring and evaluation,
  • Ability to develop multi-stakeholder partnerships,
  • Strong listening and communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills, and a proactive attitude.
  • Able to work in a team and a multicultural environment,
  • Good level of spoken and written French.
