Novus Media are seeking the services of a skilled, creative, and highly organised Social Media Coordinator to lead and grow the digital presence of Novus Media’s local and national platforms. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, ensuring our social media platforms connect deeply with local and national audiences while supporting our marketing, editorial, and commercial objectives.

Key Deliverables

  • Manage and grow the social media presence across multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
  • Develop, implement, and refine social media strategy to increase audience engagement and brand visibility.
  • Oversee the weekly content schedule, ensuring timely, high-quality posts across all platforms.
  • Approve and adapt content to align with Novus Media’s tone of voice and community-focused values.
  • Coordinate with editors, journalists, and photographers to source and share news, events, and human-interest stories.
  • Live posting from events and breaking news situations to drive real-time engagement.
  • Monitor and engage with our audiences through community management practices.
  • Analyse performance metrics, compile monthly reports, and provide insights for optimisation.
  • Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and emerging opportunities.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field will be advantageous
  • 3-5 years’ experience in social media management, preferably in a media, publishing, or news environment.
  • Experience with social media scheduling tools and analytics platforms (e.g., Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite).
  • Knowledge of best practices for growing engagement and reach on different platforms.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with internal teams and engaging with audiences.
  • A creative, proactive approach to content and campaign planning.
  • Attention to detail and commitments to high standards
  • Ability to take the initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, news-driven environment.
  • Strong copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tones for different audiences.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple titles and deadlines.
