Job Description

This role is designed to provide a professionally competent and managed MRPII based Plant Planning service to the relevant plant(s) to ensure the cost-effective utilisation of resources by means of daily production schedules for semi and finished products that satisfy the overall Master Production Schedule(s).

Key Deliverables

  • Converts the Master Production Schedule into specific achievable daily or weekly Work Orders for final and semi products
  • Reviews new and amended customer orders on computerised SAP system
  • Monitor the tracking of customer orders daily on the current tracking system
  • Determines short-term changes to plans ensuring total resource capability to support the change
  • Develop shift by shift and detailed product executing plans
  • Provide production instructions to plants
  • Maintains a constant check on the demonstrated plant capacity and advises when this differs from planned demand
  • Adjusts Plant production plans based on Plant performance against production instructions
  • Ensures all planned Orders are properly closed off
  • Inspect and sign off documentation from the Plants for material movements
  • Oversee the data capturing of material movements
  • Investigates and recommends finished and semi-product material stock physical adjustments
  • Investigate material movement discrepancies as required
  • Verify bill of materials where material movement discrepancies exist
  • Assists Plant Manager(s) and Manager in the evaluation of capacities, identification of step changes and bottlenecks and development of proposals to optimise operations, reduce lead-times and work in progress
  • Develop plans and schedules for cycle counts
  • Publish schedules to Plants and Cost Accountants
  • Issue cycle count list to relevant stakeholders in the Plants
  • Randomly conduct audits on stock takes when required
  • Print out cycle count stock balance and liaise with Plant Managers for sign off
  • Investigate and correct anomalies on cycle count stock balance
  • Comply with governance & compliance policies and procedures
  • Stakeholder relations and management

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Qualifications: Grade 12 with Maths or Accounting Working towards a CPIM or similar Inventory Management qualification would be an advantage Skills Requirements: Technical knowledge (from practical experience) of specific machines in area. Working knowledge of SHE requirements in respect of an explosives manufacturing environment. Specific experience required: At least 5 years relevant Production Planning experience within a production/distribution environment
