Job Title: SAP FICO Super User

Location: Lagos

Job Purpose

  • The SAP FICO Super User will act as the primary business-side expert and first-line support for SAP Finance and Controlling processes, bridging the gap between end users, the finance function, and the IT/SAP support team.
  • The role holder will drive process standardization, support system enhancements and rollouts, train end users, and ensure SAP FICO modules (AR, AP, GL, AA, CO, and PP integration points) are used effectively and consistently across the Nigeria operations.

Key Deliverables

  • Serve as the first point of contact (Super User / Power User) for SAP FICO-related queries, issues, and process guidance within the Nigeria business unit.
  • Provide functional support across Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), General Ledger (GL), Asset Accounting (AA), and Controlling (CO), including costcentre, profitcentre, and internal order accounting.
  • Support integration touchpoints with the Production Planning (PP) module, particularly around goods movements, cost flows, and month-end reconciliation between PP and FICO.
  • Investigate, log, and resolve or escalate SAP FICO incidents and service requests, liaising with IT/SAP consultants and the global/regional SAP support team where required.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring postings, reconciliations, and reports across GL, AR, AP, AA, and CO are accurate and timely.
  • Participate in testing (unit, integration, and UAT) for SAP change requests, patches, upgrades, and new rollouts affecting FICO and related PP integration.
  • Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities, and work with IT and Finance leadership to design and implement solutions.
  • Develop and maintain end-user training materials, SOPs, and work instructions; conduct training sessions and onboarding for new SAP FICO users.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory and regulatory requirements (including Nigerian tax and financial reporting requirements) within SAP-driven processes.
  • Support master data governance for GL accounts, cost elements, asset master records, vendor and customer master data.
  • Assist in the preparation of standard and ad hoc financial and controlling reports for management.
  • Act as a liaison during SAP projects, system upgrades, and rollouts, representing the finance business requirements.

Module-Specific Knowledge Required:

  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Customer master data, invoicing, incoming payments, dunning, credit management, and AR reconciliation.
  • Accounts Payable (AP): Vendor master data, invoice verification, payment runs, down payments, and AP reconciliation.
  • General Ledger (GL): Chart of accounts, journal entries, GL account maintenance, period-end closing, and financial statement reporting.
  • Asset Accounting (AA): Asset master creation, capitalization, depreciation runs, asset transfers, retirements, and reconciliation with GL.
  • Controlling (CO): Costcenteraccounting, profitcenteraccounting, internal orders, cost allocations, and management reporting.
  • Production Planning (PP) integration: Understanding of how production orders, goods movements, and material costing flow into CO/GL for accurate cost and inventory accounting.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • 5-8 years of overall finance/business systems experience, with a minimum of 3 years' hands-on experience supporting or using SAP FICO in a live environment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of AR, AP, GL, AA, and CO modules; exposure to PP module integration points is required.
  • Prior experience as a Super User, Key User, or Power User in an SAP environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Nigerian tax regulations (VAT, WHT) and statutory financial reporting requirements.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent understanding of end-to-end finance business processes and their SAP system representation.
  • Strong communication and training/facilitation skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Supply Chain/Production, and IT teams.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and reporting tools; SAP query/report writing skills are an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, especially during month-end/year-end close.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling financial data.
