Our client, a leading global provider of complete innovative equipment for modern egg, poultry and pig production, is actively seeking two Sales Representative (Agriculture Equipment) to join their team in Tanzania. The locations are Arusha and Dar es Salaam. 

 

The Job

The Sales Representative is responsible for proactively promoting and selling the client’s complete range of innovative equipment and solutions for modern [Poultry/Pig] production within the assigned territory of Tanzania. This role requires a strong technical understanding of the agricultural industry, a proven sales track record, and the ability to manage long-cycle, high value projects while building strong, long-term customer relationships.

Key Deliverables

Sales and Business Development:  

  • Achieve Sales Targets: Meet or exceed ambitious sales targets for the client equipment (e.g., feeding systems, housing, ventilation, climate control) and after-sales services.  
  • Territory Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the Tanzanian market, identifying new business opportunities and market penetration strategies.  
  • Lead Generation & Prospecting: Proactively seek out and qualify new sales leads, developing a robust pipeline of potential customers (farmers, integrators, and distributors).  
  • Sales Cycle Management: Manage the entire sales process from initial contact, technical consulting, quotation preparation, negotiation of price/payment terms, to final contract closing.  
  • Project Consulting: Work closely with customers to understand their specific farm requirements and provide expert, customized advice on farm design and equipment layout.  

Technical and Customer Support:  

  • Product Expertise: Maintain in-depth technical knowledge of all relevant client products, solutions, and their economic benefits.  
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key clients and influencers in the Tanzanian agricultural sector.  
  • Complaint Resolution: Assist in resolving customer complaints regarding sales, service, or technical issues, coordinating with internal engineering and service departments to ensure customer satisfaction.  

Market Analysis and Reporting:  

  • Market Intelligence: Collect and provide regular market intelligence on industry trends, competitor activities, pricing, and new product opportunities within Tanzania.  
  • Reporting: Prepare detailed and accurate sales performance reports, sales forecasts, and market analysis for regional management.  
  • Promotional Activities: Recommend and participate in relevant trade shows, exhibitions, and farmer workshops to promote the client brand and products.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Animal Production, or a related technical field is an advantage. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of proven sales experience, preferably in technical sales or investment goods of Poultry/Pig/Agricultural equipment industry is highly preferred. 

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies. 

  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to understand and explain the basic functions and technical advantages of complex farm equipment.  
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills in English and Swahili (or other relevant local languages). 
  • Autonomy: Proactive, highly motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision while traveling extensively within the territory.  
  • Computer Skills: Solid basic computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM or ERP systems.  
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Tanzania and occasionally internationally for training or meetings.
