Key Deliverables

  • New Business Development: Proactively identify, prospect, and acquire new customers (retail outlets, small restaurants, cafes, caterers, potentially direct consumers) within Dar es Salaam and environs.
  • Account Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing customers, ensuring their satisfaction and repeat orders.
  • Sales Presentations & Negotiation: Effectively present our range of frozen food products, highlight benefits, and negotiate sales terms/prices suitable for our small business model.
  • Order Processing & Follow-Up: Accurately take customer orders, liaise with operations for fulfillment, and ensure timely delivery coordination. Follow up post-delivery for satisfaction and re-orders.
  • Market Intelligence: Gather feedback from customers on products, pricing, and competition. Report market trends and competitor activity to management.
  • Reasonable Sales Targets: Meet or exceed agreed-upon weekly/monthly sales targets.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline using provided tools (e.g., simple CRM, spreadsheets, Zoho CRM).
  • Brand Representation: Represent the company professionally and positively at all times.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Proven Sales Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of successful field sales experience (primarily B2B), preferably, but not mandatorily within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), food & beverage, or frozen goods sector in Tanzania. Experience selling to small retailers or HORECA (Hotels, Restaurants, Cafes) is a significant advantage.
  • Dar es Salaam Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the local market dynamics, customer preferences, and distribution channels within Dar es Salaam. Existing network of contacts is a plus.
  • Track Record: Demonstrable history of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Communication & Interpersonal Skills:  Ability to build rapport quickly and negotiate effectively.
  • Self-Motivation & Drive: Highly proactive, energetic, and results-driven with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Organization & Time Management: Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage a sales territory, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively in a part-time capacity.
  • Integrity & Reliability: Trustworthy, honest, and dependable. Must handle cash/transactions responsibly if required.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in using a smartphone for communication, basic apps (WhatsApp, Email), and potentially simple sales tracking tools.
  • Transportation: own transportation is desirable but not disqualifying (e.g., motorcycle/boda-boda, car) to travel efficiently within Dar es Salaam to meet customers. Valid driver's/license required if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically with frozen or perishable food products and understanding of cold chain requirements.
  • Experience working with or for small businesses.
  • Basic understanding of inventory management principles.
