The Job

As the Sales Manager you will be responsible for establishing and growing the client’s commercial presence in Rwanda while supporting business development activities in Burundi. The role will lead customer acquisition, market development, inland logistics growth and strategic account management in a greenfield market. You will drive profitable growth, increase market share and develop long-term customer relationships while representing the client in Rwanda and supporting the future establishment of a permanent client organization.

Key Deliverables

Sales & Business Development  

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for Rwanda and support Burundi.  
  • Acquire new customers and grow existing accounts.  
  • Promote ocean freight, carrier haulage and inland logistics solutions.  
  • Develop sales pipeline and strategic opportunities.  

Customer Relationship Management  

  • Conduct customer visits and business reviews.  
  • Lead contract implementation and service recovery.  
  • Maintain CRM opportunities and account plans.  

Commercial Performance  

  • Deliver agreed volume, revenue and profitability targets.  
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.  
  • Support pricing and commercial planning.  

Market Representation  

  • Represent the client with customers, authorities and industry stakeholders.  
  • Support future entity establishment and market expansion.  

Cross-functional Collaboration  

  • Coordinate with Operations, Customer Service, Finance and regional teams to ensure seamless customer delivery

Bachelor'S Degree Procurement, Logistics , Supply Chain Management

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related discipline.  
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in shipping, freight forwarding or logistics sales.  
  3. Knowledge of ocean freight and inland logistics.

  • Able to increase market share and acquire new customers.  
  • Able to maintain high customer satisfaction and retention.  
  • Able to build strategic stakeholder relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.  
  • Fluent English; French and/or Kinyarwanda is an advantage. 
  • Strong commercial, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
