Job Title: Professional Tailor

Location: Surulere, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Working Hours: Monday – Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Job Description

  • We are seeking a skilled and creative Professional Tailor who can design and sew high-quality male and female outfits, streetwear, and children's clothing.
  • The ideal candidate must be proficient in interpreting designs, creating patterns, cutting fabric, and sewing garments to specification.
  • Attention to detail, versatility, and a strong understanding of fashion trends are essential.

Key Deliverables

  • Design Interpretation: Read and interpret sketches, patterns
  • Sewing: Sew various types of clothing, including:
    • Male traditional (senator), shirt and modern wear
    • Female ready-to-wear and Aso-Ebi custom outfits (shirt variations, shirt dresses, 2-piece (trousers and skirt
    • Children’s clothing (school uniforms, party wear, casuals)
    • Urban/streetwear (e.g., joggers, hoodies, jackets, graphic tees)
  • Pattern Making: Draft, cut, and adjust patterns to suit client measurements and styles.
  • Measurements & Fittings: Take accurate body measurements and conduct fittings to ensure proper garment fit.
  • Fabric Handling: Work with a variety of fabrics including cotton, denim, crepe, chiffon, silklace, jersey, and ankara.
  • Finishing: Perform garment finishing tasks including hemming, buttoning, and adding zippers or embellishments.
  • Production Quality: Ensure high-quality stitching and finishing in all garments.
  • Time Management: Meet production deadlines for client orders or bulk manufacturing.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • 3+ years of professional tailoring experience, especially in both male and female garments
  • Experience with children’s clothing and streetwear production is highly desirable

Technical Skills:

  • Excellent cutting and sewing skills
  • Proficient in operating industrial sewing and overlock machines
  • Ability to work with or without patterns
  • Knowledge of garment construction and finishing techniques

Soft Skills:

  • Creativity and a keen eye for detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Team spirit and flexibility

Preferred Qualities:

  • Knowledge of current fashion and streetwear trends
  • You must be highly skilled in cutting and sewing various styles without supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
