Key Deliverables

Payroll Processing & Data Management

  • Payroll inbox management: Respond promptly to employee payroll queries.

  • Attendance tracking: Collect, verify, and consolidate registers, Sundays, and public holiday data.

  • Reconciliations: Ensure accuracy of incentives, overtime, and payroll-related queries.

  • Data accuracy: Maintain precise payroll records within Pastel.

  • Employee lifecycle updates: Load new starters, process terminations, and manage leave payouts.

  • Calculations: Handle pro-rata pay and back-pay for new employees.

  • Recurring inputs: Maintain nightshift allowances and other ongoing payroll elements.

  • Adjustments: Compile wage changes as required.

  • Validation support: Assist with payroll checks prior to final submission.

Statutory & Benefits Administration

  • Compliance processing: Complete UI-19s, UI-27s, and salary schedules for exited employees.

  • Maternity documentation: Prepare and submit required paperwork.

  • Fund administration: Register new employees on the Momentum Fund and process exits accordingly.

Payments & Distribution

  • Banking preparation: Create bank files and process EFT payments through the banking institute.

  • Payslip distribution: Ensure efficient and timely delivery of payslips.

  • Quality assurance: Support payroll audits, including capturing hours and leave pay on Pastel.

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
Finance, Accounting And Assurance Services Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate. Payroll or financial administration qualification. 1–3 years in payroll administration, ideally within a high-volume environment. Proficient in Pastel Payroll or equivalent payroll systems. Strong grasp of leave payouts, pro-rata calculations, and back-pay processes. Working understanding of statutory requirements, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL. Exposure to managing pension/provident funds and medical aid contributions. Proficiency in MS Excel (basic formulas, data validation, and reporting). Strong reconciliation and payroll reporting skills.

  • A relevant BCom degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in a full-function payroll role
  • Strong SAP knowledge – non-negotiable!
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Attention to detail that even a guard dog would envy
