Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for Operations Operations Controller Loading. The purpose of this role is to Oversee operational tasks according to requirements, enhance efficiency, and maintain fleet utilisation to minimise operational downtime safely.

Key Deliverables

As our Operations Controller Loading your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Safety, Health, and Environment

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health, safety and risk management standards and best practices.
  • Safely operate and control equipment/materials as instructed.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted following the Minerals Act and Regulations.
  • Compliance with OSHAS and MHS Acts.
  • Active participation in SLAMs, HPHs, relevant Risk Assessments and close-out of Safety Actions.

Outputs:

  • Safety rating.
  • Dust Management.
  • Compliance with PTOs, SLAMs, HPHs, and closed-out Safety Actions.

Performance and Delivery

Coordination of Loading/Hauling Activities:

  • Site safe inspections and declarations.
  • Optimise equipment utilisation.
  • People engagement.
  • Elevating potential risks and operational challenges to the supervisor.

Outputs:

  • Ensuring the safety of subordinates and environments.
  • Safety inspections and declarations.

Loading/Hauling Fleet Utilisation:

  • Ensure that equipment is always in neat and working condition.
  • Utilise the productivity of equipment
  • Proper shift handovers to ensure no impact on operations and production.

Outputs:

  • Neat and tidy equipment.
  • Minimal operational downtime due to unscheduled and unplanned events and incidents.
  • DOH targets achievement.

Assistance:

  • Consult with relevant personnel to arrange assistance regarding resources required (equipment and people) to ensure successful task execution.
  • Assist the supervisor and co-workers according to their level/area of competence and follow company policies when instructed or during the responsible person's absence to ensure the achievement of the functional objective.

Outputs:

  • Perform cleaning activities beyond the allocated area.
  • Eagerness to assist.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team.
  • Number of complaints.
  • Feedback from supervisor and co-workers.
  • Compliance with applicable safety and housekeeping standards.

This role is in Mining (MIN) department on a band 9/P4 level reporting to the Supervisor.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Grade 12 Certificate / N3 Technical
  • SA Drivers Licence
  • Red Permit (where applicable)
  • Kumba Dover Certificate
  • Relevant HME Licences
  • Competency A Certificate
  • 2 -3 Years of relevant operational experience in a mining environment.
  • Relevant secondary equipment.
  • Mine traffic rules.
  • Radio, Loading, Lock-out and Pre-shift inspection procedures.
  • Safety standards.
  • Company policies and procedures.
  • Basic fault finding/identification.
  • In-depth knowledge of the operational equipment systems, e.g., collision prevention and fire suppression systems.
