- National Society Development Support
- Work closely with the National Societies of Somalia, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Madagascar to support them to design and implement their National Society Development Plans, as per agreed objectives, indicators and milestones.
- Undertake assessments, analysis of data and make recommendations to the NS, addressing challenges and opportunities.
- Support partner NS with the development and implementation of their one-NSD plans.
- Technical & advisory support
- Support the leadership of our partner NS, to facilitate and mobilize Movement and external technical expertise to support them with the review of policies, processes, systems and structures as required, in close coordination with the IFRC NSD counterpart(s) and relevant BRC technical advisors.
- Work closely with the Safeguarding technical advisor to incorporate safeguarding activities into the NSD plans of our partner organisations.
- Work with the leadership of the partner NS to identify NSD priorities where BRC can add value including the provision of appropriate advice/coaching to the NS counterparts, as required.
- NSD funding Management and NSD learning
- Oversee BRC contribution to the SRCS NSD plan including financial support, ensuring required documentation is provided, appropriate fund management monitoring progress, and the production and sharing of requisite financial and narrative reporting to ICRC etc.
- Work with NS partners and BRC MEAL Advisor to develop an agreed NSD monitoring and reporting process with partners, based on the NSD MEL Framework.
- Maintain a good understanding of reputational risks and potential integrity issues affecting the NSs, sharing with all stakeholders as necessary.
- Identify organisational and NSD learning within BRC, NS supported by BRC as well as the wider Movement for internal and external sharing.
- Supporting our National Society partners with developing outcome oriented NSD plans and conducting impact measurement case studies.
- BRC Localisation agenda
- Engage and support BRC commitment to work with the IFRC and other Movement partners to influence the development of Movement-wide localised models which genuinely shift power, including through its active engagement with the ‘Network Ways of Working’ process and joint research with IFRC and ICRC to demonstrate how National Society Development helps improve local action.
- Actively play a role in influencing localisation practices across East and Southern Africa, enhancing the understanding of the BRC Localisation approach for BRC staff and BRC’s NS partners.
- Support BRC with the delivery of Partnership Reviews across East and Southern Africa.
- Actively support influencing of localisation practices across RCM network in East and Southern Africa , promoting the understanding of Partnership Framework approaches for BRC staff and National Society partners.
