Perseus Mining (Tanzania) Limited (SMLC) is seeking a Mechanical Planner.
The Electrical Planner is a key contributor to minimizing equipment downtime, optimizing life-cycle costs, and enhancing equipment reliability and availability to maximize production performance.
The role supports the Planning Superintendent or designated delegate in developing, coordinating, and maintaining effective maintenance plans, schedules, and resource requirements. The Mechanical Planner ensures that the right mechanical work is identified, properly scoped, adequately resourced, and scheduled at the right time, enabling technicians to execute maintenance safely and efficiently while minimizing unnecessary production losses.
A key responsibility of the role is to maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date maintenance data within the CMMS, supporting effective maintenance planning, execution, reporting, and decision-making.
The Mechanical Planner works closely with the Planning Coordinator, Mechanical Superintendent, Mechanical Supervisors, Reliability, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Maintenance teams to ensure effective coordination and execution of maintenance activities.

- Prepared to undertake external training to complement the operation.
- Incumbent may be expected to work outside Normal Working Hours on occasions.

Management of Safety, Environment, & Community Relations

Operations
- Support the Planning Superintendent and Planning Coordinator in establishing and maintaining effective maintenance planning and reliability processes to improve equipment reliability and achieve targeted maintenance KPIs.
- Review approved work requests and create, update, and maintain work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring appropriate job plans, task lists, work scopes, job steps, labor requirements, materials, and estimated durations are included, and that work orders are fully planned before scheduling.
- Participate in developing and maintaining detailed mechanical maintenance plans covering preventive, predictive, corrective, breakdown, statutory, and shutdown maintenance activities.· Prioritize maintenance work based on safety, production criticality, equipment condition, and available resources.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Supervisors, Technicians, Operations, Stores, Procurement, Engineering, Reliability, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities are properly planned and execution ready.
- Ensure the availability of required spare parts, tools, materials, specialist services, equipment, and other resources prior to scheduled maintenance activities.
- Monitor and track work-order progress, ensuring timely completion, accurate status updates, and effective communication of planning or execution constraints.
- Adjust maintenance schedules as required to accommodate operational priorities, equipment condition, resource availability, and emerging maintenance requirements.
- Maintain and update Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules and support continuous improvement of PM programs to ensure they remain current, effective, and aligned with equipment reliability requirements.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, Bills of Materials (BOMs), job plans, task lists, maintenance strategies, equipment hierarchies, and other relevant master data within the CMMS.
- Ensure maintenance planning data, work-order information, technical documentation, and supporting records are accurate, complete, current, and maintained in accordance with company standards.
- Participate in shutdown planning, risk assessments, work-pack development, resource planning, and post-maintenance reviews to ensure mechanical maintenance activities are effectively planned and executed.
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) of significant mechanical equipment failures and support the implementation of corrective and reliability improvement actions.
- Support the preparation of annual mechanical maintenance budgets, cost forecasts, and resource requirements.
- Participate in preparing and distributing maintenance performance reports, including relevant planning, scheduling, backlog, PM compliance, and maintenance KPI information.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the role as directed by management.
