Job Description
The Reaching Impact Saturation and Epidemic Control (RISE) program is saving lives and improving health by controlling the HIV pandemic and strengthening global health security to limit the spread of deadly disease outbreaks. RISE uses evidence-based practices from over 20 years of PEPFAR implementation to address critical HIV priorities along with global health security (GHS), maternal, newborn, and child health and Nutrition (MNCH-N), tuberculosis (TB), Malaria, data systems, supply chain and commodity management, and other cross-cutting areas.
In Burundi, Jhpiego is recruiting for an anticipated new project supporting Burundi’s lifesaving MNCH-N services.
The MNCH Advisor will be responsible for the technical coordination and oversight of Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health interventions across the RISE Burundi Maternal, Child, Newborn, and Nutrition (MNCH-N) project, ensuring integrated and high-quality service delivery. This role will also be responsible for the technical guidance and supervision of regional MNCH-N staff based in RISE-supported regions. The MNCH Advisor will work in close tandem with the Nutrition Advisor and other relevant technical and programmatic staff (including those supporting the RISE-Burundi HIV project) and partners to ensure seamless and integrated MNCH-Nutrition activity implementation.

- Coordinate the implementation of high-impact MNCH interventions across all stages of the continuum of care, from preconception through early childhood
- Provide technical oversight and direct supervision to regional staff as assigned, and technical guidance to ensure consistent implementation of project strategies
- Work in close collaboration with the Nutrition Advisor and other relevant project staff (including those focusing on elimination of vertical transmission of HIV) to ensure integrated planning, implementation, and monitoring of all MNCH-Nutrition activities.
- Ensure seamless collaboration and joint implementation with the RISE-Burundi HIV project, harmonizing project plans and identifying efficiencies, and representing the RISE project in a coordinated fashion with key stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance and support for activities related to ANC, skilled delivery, emergency obstetric and newborn care, PNC, and integrated child illness management (IMNCI/iCCM).
- Ensure the promotion of respectful maternity care and family-centered developmental care.
- Provide and facilitate on-the-job training, simulation, and quality improvement skills for HCPs on MNCH protocols and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the strengthening of referral linkages and feedback loops between community, primary, and referral health facilities for lifesaving services
- Collaborate with MEL and data teams to ensure effective use of MNCH data for program monitoring, review, and adaptation.
