Job Description

  • The Legal Volunteer shall support WRAPA Legal Department in providing legal aid services, legal research, documentation support, advocacy activities, implementing legal programmatic initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and administrative legal functions.
  • The role is designed to provide practical legal exposure and professional development opportunities while contributing meaningfully to WRAPA's mission of advancing gender justice and access to justice.

Key Deliverables

  • Support legal research relating to women’s rights, human rights, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), family law, and related legal issues.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, case summaries, reports, letters, and legal correspondence.
  • Support case documentation, filing, and legal records management.
  • Assist in preparing legal aid reports and programme documentation.
  • Attend court proceedings, stakeholder meetings, workshops, and legal engagements where assigned.
  • Support in the development and implementation of legal programmatic initiatives, campaigns, and community outreach activities aimed at strengthening access to justice and promoting legal and social reforms that protect women and vulnerable populations.
  • Assist in maintaining legal databases, referral systems, and institutional records.
  • Support clients respectfully and professionally under supervision.
  • Carry out administrative and operational support tasks within the Legal Unit.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervising officer.

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
Law/Legal and Development Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized institution Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is mandatory. Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience as a Legal Officer or similar role. Demonstrate interest in women’s rights, human rights, social justice, and legal advocacy. Possess proficient legal research and writing skills Experience in developing legal programmatic initiatives or the implementation process is an advantage Demonstrate willingness to learn and work within a multidisciplinary environment.
