Job Description

JByamukama & Co. Advocates is seeking a committed and results-oriented Legal Associate to join its growing litigation practice. This role involves delivering high-quality legal services to clients under the firm, providing strategic legal advice, representing clients in court, and contributing to the overall growth and innovation of the firm.

Key Deliverables

  • Conduct client consultations and provide professional legal opinions on assigned matters.
  • Draft pleadings, legal agreements, contracts, and related documents.
  • Prepare legal opinions and memoranda; institute and manage court proceedings.
  • Support client development by identifying business opportunities and proposing client- focused solutions.
  • Follow up with third parties to execute client instructions.
  • Participate in team briefings, case strategy sessions, and internal coordination meetings.
  • Prepare and submit concise weekly & monthly activity reports in line with internal reporting structures.
  • Any other assignments.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities

Academic: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized University.

Professional: Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC) or equivalent bar qualification, with a valid practicing certificate.

Experience: At least 1–2 years’ post-enrollment experience in legal practice

  • Strong legal reasoning and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to follow through and resolve legal matters efficiently.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal codes, procedure, and jurisprudence.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and case management.
  • High level of initiative, self-drive, and professional integrity.
  • Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ECCMIS.
