Job Description
The role of the Junior Mine Planning Engineer is to learn and understand the planning process within the Company which primarily revolves around advising and liaising with Mining and other MRM teams to produce short and long-term mine plans, create 3D models of the existing and planned workings and incorporate other technical areas as well as assisting on other mining and technical tasks as instructed. The goal is to eventually assist the Mine Planning Engineer in his/her daily tasks. His/her initial role will involve practical and theoretical training through observing and training from the Mine Planning Engineer and researching available materials at the Company and on the various websites.

- As an understudy to the Mine Planning Engineer, advise and liaise with mining and technical teams to produce short and long-term mine plans across all company projects. Including scheduling of medium and long-term plans
- Familiarize himself/herself with the mine planning processes in the Company and learn and understand these processes within a set time
- Assist the Mine Planning Engineer to establish 3D models of current and future mine development
- Shadow the Mine Planning Engineer in his/her daily tasks with the aim to be able to do these tasks unaided
- Understand the role of the Mineral Resource Management Department within the mining operations
- Provide assistance in all mining related activities to analyze operations performance and optimize mining
- Assist with the Company’s efforts to be compliant to laws, standards, and procedures
- Monitor performance data to ensure company goals are achieved
- Any other technical duties, such as technical reporting, procedure writing etc.
- Ensuring all he/she adheres to the health and safety regulations
- Perform any other task as may be required by the Supervisor and/or Management
