Job Description

The Junior Development Associate will support the Foundation’s fundraising, donor engagement, and external positioning efforts.

Working closely with the Managing Director, this role is responsible for researching funding opportunities, developing high-quality proposals, managing donor communications, and supporting the progression of the Foundation’s fundraising pipeline.

This role requires a high level of ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a structured and disciplined manner.

This is an early-career role suited to a highly organised, analytically strong individual with excellent writing skills and a strong interest in mental health and the non-profit sector.

Key Deliverables

1. Fundraising Research & Pipeline Management

  • Identify and research potential funders (foundations, trusts, corporates, and individuals)
  • Maintain and update the Foundation’s fundraising pipeline
  • Prepare concise briefing notes on prospective partners
  • Track engagement stages from initial research through to proposal and follow-up

2. Proposal Development

  • Draft concept notes, funding proposals, and supporting materials
  • Translate programme activities into clear outputs, outcomes, and impact statements
  • Support alignment between programme data (M&E) and proposal narratives
  • Incorporate feedback from previous submissions to strengthen future proposals
  • Assist in developing standardised proposal content and templates

3. Donor Communications & Stewardship

  • Support the development and execution of a donor communications calendar
  • Draft donor updates, reports, and engagement materials
  • Assist in maintaining consistent, high-quality communication with existing funders
  • Support efforts to deepen relationships with current donors

4. Outreach & Engagement Support

  • Assist in coordinating meetings with prospective and existing funders
  • Draft outreach emails and follow-ups
  • Support efforts to gather feedback on unsuccessful applications
  • Ensure timely and professional engagement across all external communications

5. Internal Coordination & Support

  • Provide administrative and strategic support to the Managing Director on fundraising activities
  • Prepare briefing materials for meetings and engagements
  • Maintain organised records of proposals, communications, and outcomes

Support alignment between programme teams and fundraising needs

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
International Relations, Development, Humanitarian Management Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, psychology, public policy, development studies, or a related field. 0-3 years’ relevant experience (research, writing, non-profit, or related fields) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and research capabilities; experience in MEL advantageous High level of organisation and attention to detail Highly proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
