Key Deliverables

Payroll Processing & Administration (SAGE):

  • Accurately process weekly/bi-weekly/monthly payroll using SAGE (e.g., Sage Pastel Payroll, Sage VIP, Sage Business Cloud Payroll).
  • Calculate salaries, wages, bonuses, and deductions (PAYE, UIF, SDL, medical aid, pension, garnishees).
  • Conduct pre-payment checks, validate data, and reconcile payroll totals for accuracy.
  • Generate and distribute payslips.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliation reports.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records with confidentiality.
  • Manage leave administration (annual, sick, etc.) per company policy and BCEA.
  • Address and resolve employee payroll queries professionally.
  • Stay updated on changes in payroll legislation and SARS requirements.

General Financial & Administrative Duties:

  • Support month-end and year-end payroll procedures.
  • Liaise with Finanace on employee data changes (starters, leavers, etc.).
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation.
  • Maintain organised payroll records (electronic and physical).
  • Provide general administrative support to the payroll/finance team.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • Diploma/Certificate in Payroll Administration, Bookkeeping, or Finance (Highly Advantageous).
  • Minimum [2-3] years of hands-on SA payroll experience.
  • Essential: Proficient in SAGE Payroll software (e.g., Sage Pastel, VIP, Business Cloud).
  • Essential: Experience with UIF submissions to the Department of Labour.
  • Solid understanding of South African payroll legislation (PAYE, UIF, SDL, BCEA).
