The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with a Junior Mining Company are working together to identify experienced and qualified talent to support the development and operational readiness of its gold mining operations in South Africa.

The Role

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Officer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering training and development programs that meet operational requirements, legislative compliance, and skills upliftment strategies. This role is key to ensuring a competent workforce and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development across all levels of the organization.

Key Deliverables

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Mine's Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR) in alignment with the Mining Charter and relevant SETA requirements
  • Facilitate onboarding, induction, and ongoing technical training for employees and contractors
  • Assess training needs through skills audits, performance evaluations, and competency assessments
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with the MHSA, SDLA, and other regulatory frameworks
  • Liaise with training providers and institutions to ensure quality, accredited training delivery
  • Track learner progress on learnerships, apprenticeships, and mentorship programs
  • Support internal talent development initiatives, succession planning, and leadership development
  • Conduct internal audits and participate in external audits related to HRD and training compliance
  • Report on training metrics, budget usage, and transformation-related targets (e.g., skills development scorecard)
  • Build relationships with stakeholders including regulatory bodies, community representatives, and internal departments

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Development, Training & Development, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in a training and development role within the mining or heavy industry sector
  • Strong knowledge of South African Skills Development legislation, Mining Charter, and SETA/SDP accreditation processes
  • Experience in compiling and submitting WSPs/ATRs and engaging with the MQA or similar SETA
  • Excellent facilitation, planning, and coordination skills
  • Prior experience working in rural/remote environments and engagement with local communities is an advantage
