Key Deliverables

Operational Management & Execution

  • Execute business strategy and operational plans set by senior leadership
  • Manage day-to-day operations across all Gumtree business functions
  • Monitor and report on key business metrics and performance indicators
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Support budget management and resource optimization initiatives
  • Provide regular operational updates to COO and CEO

 

Product & Engineering Coordination

  • Coordinate product development activities and ensure delivery against roadmap
  • Work with engineering teams to implement technical solutions and improvements
  • Support product launch activities and feature rollouts
  • Facilitate communication between product teams and other business functions
  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to identify optimization opportunities
  • Ensure technical projects align with business priorities and timelines

Customer Experience & Operations

  • Ensure exceptional customer service across all touchpoints
  • Oversee customer support operations and service level standards
  • Develop customer retention and satisfaction improvement initiatives
  • Manage trust and safety protocols to maintain platform integrity
  • Drive operational efficiency and process optimization

Marketing & Growth Execution

  • Execute marketing campaigns and initiatives aligned with brand strategy
  • Coordinate digital marketing, performance marketing, and promotional activities
  • Support user acquisition and retention programs
  • Manage marketing operational activities and vendor relationships
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide optimization recommendations
  • Facilitate partnership activations and collaborative marketing efforts

 

Business Development Support

  • Support business development initiatives and partnership opportunities
  • Coordinate implementation of new revenue streams and business initiatives
  • Assist with commercial negotiations and deal execution
  • Manage operational aspects of partnerships and integrations
  • Support market research and competitive analysis activities
  • Coordinate new market or vertical expansion activities

 

Team Coordination & Management

  • Coordinate activities across product, engineering, marketing, and operations teams
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and communication
  • Support team development and performance management
  • Ensure operational alignment across all business functions
  • Lead operational meetings and status reporting.
  • Support change management and process improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Commerce, or related field (essential).
  • Postgraduate qualification such as MBA (advantageous).
  • Training or certification in project management, process improvement (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma), or agile methodologies (advantageous).
  • 7+ Years’ experience in operational management or business leadership roles, preferably within a digital marketplace, e-commerce, or technology-driven business.
  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional teams across product, engineering, marketing, and operations.
  • Experience translating strategic objectives into executable operational plans.
  • Demonstrated success in improving operational efficiency and driving process optimisation.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Exposure to product development and technical project coordination.
  • Strong background in customer experience management and trust & safety frameworks.
  • Experience working closely with marketing and business development functions to deliver growth objectives
  • Strong operational leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills.
