Job Description

  • We are seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to oversee the overall operations and performance of a PVC pipe manufacturing factory.
  • The ideal candidate should have strong, hands-on experience in manufacturing or factory operations, with proven ability to manage production, people, quality control, maintenance, inventory, costs, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Candidates with substantial experience managing other manufacturing companies willbe considered, provided they demonstrate strong knowledge of factory operations, production management, team leadership, quality control, and operational efficiency.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day factory operations, achieving production targets, maintaining quality standards, controlling operational costs, and driving overall business performance.

Key Deliverables

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing factory.
  • Manage and coordinate production, maintenance, quality control, warehouse, procurement, and other factory-related activities.
  • Develop and monitor production plans to ensure production targets are consistently achieved.
  • Ensure efficient operation and utilisation of production machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor production processes to minimise downtime, waste, defects, and production losses.
  • Ensure products meet required quality and industry standards.
  • Supervise and manage factory staff, supervisors, production teams, and other operational personnel.
  • Set performance targets and monitor the productivity and performance of factory teams.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Work closely with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure adequate availability of raw materials and other production inputs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper management of raw materials and finished products.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and ensure machinery breakdowns are addressed promptly.
  • Ensure strict compliance with factory safety procedures and operational policies.
  • Monitor production costs and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary expenses.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on production, operational performance, challenges, and recommendations to management.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of factory activities.
  • Develop and implement systems that improve productivity, efficiency, accountability, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with sales and management teams to ensure production aligns with business demand.
  • Ensure the factory maintains a clean, organised, safe, and productive working environment.
  • Handle other operational responsibilities as assigned by management.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Bachelor’s Degree/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4–8 years of relevant experience, with significant experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity within a manufacturing or factory environment.
  • Proven experience managing a manufacturing company, factory, or large-scale production operation.
  • Candidates without PVC-specific experience but with strong experience managing other manufacturing companies may also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of factory operations, production planning, machinery, maintenance, quality control, inventory, and cost management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage production teams and achieve operational targets.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and people-management skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement practical strategies to improve productivity and profitability.
