Job Description

The Fundraising Intern will support the Fundraising & Partnerships Associate in researching funding opportunities, preparing proposals and donor materials, managing CRM data, assisting with donor relations and events, and supporting CEO engagements. The role offers hands-on experience across the fundraising process.

Key Deliverables

Fundraising strategy & execution (supportive)

  • Support the Fundraising & Partnerships Associate by identifying, researching and engaging new funding opportunities — including grants, sponsorships and donor networks — to support Silverleaf’s growth.
  • Assist in drafting compelling grant proposals, fundraising campaigns and donor outreach materials under the Fundraising & Partnerships Associate’s guidance.
  • Maintain and update prospect lists and basic research briefs to inform strategy.

Conference & CEO support

  • Assist with conference research, outreach and logistics.
  • Prepare conference materials, briefing packs and follow-up notes for the CEO.
  • Support CEO preparation and post-conference donor follow-up as delegated by the Fundraising & Partnerships Associate.

Donor engagement & relationship management

  • Maintain donor records and fundraising progress in the CRM (data entry, pipeline updates, tagging).
  • Support timely donor engagement, stewardship and reporting in line with the donor communication schedule.
  • Help organise donor briefings, events and networking activities (logistics, invitations, materials).
  • Prepare draft fundraising reports, impact summaries and presentation materials for review by the Fundraising & Partnerships Associate and leadership.

Grant administration & compliance (assistive)

  • Assist with grant application preparation, submission checklists and deadlines.
  • Support donor reporting and compliance tasks; prepare draft sections of impact reports and evidence summaries for review.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation for active grants and awards.

Administrative & communications support

  • Draft and proofread emails, campaign copy, and donor-facing content.
  • Help build proposal templates, standardised reporting templates, and simple visual materials to communicate impact.
  • Carry out ad-hoc research, data pulls, and administrative tasks that keep fundraising workstreams moving.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Current student or recent graduate in Business, International Development, Communications, Education, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal English; Kiswahili is a plus.
  • Demonstrable interest in fundraising, nonprofit development or social impact (coursework, internships, volunteering).
  • Excellent research, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable handling multiple tasks and deadlines; proactive and eager to learn.
  • Familiarity with basic CRM tools and Google Workspace (Docs/Sheets/Slides) preferred
