Enabel is implementing the Family Farming and Agricultural and Rural Entrepreneurship project in North and South Kivu, aiming to strengthen local agricultural value chains, improve the productivity, competitiveness, and market access of small-scale producers, while contributing to the socio-economic resilience of the population.

The expert will contribute to providing technical and strategic support to implementing partners who assist farmers' organizations, cooperatives, and agricultural SMEs in adopting technical farming itineraries (TFIs), innovating, and integrating agroecological methods into promising value chains.

Key Deliverables

Under the hierarchical supervision of the Project Manager, the expert's role will be:

  • Providing technical and strategic support to producers, cooperatives and agricultural SMEs in North and South Kivu; conducting agricultural assessments: soils, crops, farming practices and technical constraints.
  • Identify and promote promising agricultural sectors according to the intervention areas,
  • To design and manage technical support and agricultural advisory plans tailored to the needs of local stakeholders,
  • To ensure quality control of the implementation of agricultural advice to vulnerable households,
  • Supporting the development of training and capacity-building programs for stakeholders in the agricultural sector,
  • Promoting agroecological and climate-resilient agricultural practices,
  • Supporting the development of public-private partnerships and inclusive financing mechanisms for agricultural stakeholders,
  • Contribute to technical reports, documentation, and the capitalization of best practices,
  • To monitor and evaluate interventions and propose recommendations to improve the performance of the sectors,

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities

Congolese nationality,

  • Master's degree (Bac +5) in Agronomy, agricultural sciences, agricultural economics, rural development, economics or a similar qualification.
  • Professional experience of at least 5 years in agricultural consulting, technical support and the development of agricultural sectors,
  • Proven experience working with farmers' organizations, cooperatives and agricultural SMEs,
  • In-depth knowledge of the agricultural and rural context in the DRC, particularly in the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu,
  • Skills in the technical, organizational, and economic analysis of agricultural systems,
  • Experience in project management and monitoring and evaluation,
  • Ability to develop multi-stakeholder partnerships and to work collaboratively with the private and public sectors and civil society,
  • Strong listening and communication skills, as well as good interpersonal skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills, and a proactive attitude.
  • Able to work in a team and a multicultural environment,
  • Proficiency in common computer tools,
  • Good level of spoken and written French.
