Job Description

The Driver / Logistician will play a key role in the logistics of project activities by ensuring the safe and timely transportation of project staff between the districts involved in the project. The position will also support the logistical organization of field activities, contributing to the efficient implementation of the project in compliance with ICEI internal procedures and AICS donor requirements.

Key Deliverables

The Driver / Logistician will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Safely transport project staff, consultants, partners and visitors between the project intervention districts.
  • Support the logistics of project activities by ensuring the timely movement of staff and project materials.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, cleanliness and roadworthiness of project vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logbooks and fuel consumption records.
  • Monitor vehicle insurance, registration and maintenance schedules.
  • Support the logistical organization of field visits, workshops and meetings.
  • Deliver and collect project documents and materials when required.
  • Ensure compliance with ICEI internal procedures and AICS donor requirements.
  • Immediately report accidents, incidents or vehicle malfunctions.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • Holder of a PSV Certificate from the National Institute of Transport (NIT).
  • Valid Tanzanian driving licence, class C/C1/C2/C3/D, and valid permits at all times.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience.
  • Previous experience with NGOs or donor-funded projects is considered an asset.
  • Good knowledge of driving regulations.
  • Experience driving in rural and remote areas and local roads.
  • Understanding of supply chain management in procurement, transport and distribution/logistics.
  • Basic vehicle maintenance skills.
  • Fluency in English and Swahili.
