Our mission in the DRC has existed since 2001. PUI is developing its integrated approach there with projects in primary healthcare and the fight against malnutrition.

And what about the Deputy Field Coordinator for Programs – Ituri in all of this?

As Deputy Field Coordinator for Programs, you will be responsible at the base level for monitoring the effective implementation of the program, as well as contractual issues and PUI reporting. You will also be responsible for representing the program on programmatic matters to other humanitarian actors and local state technical and administrative authorities. Key Deliverables

  • Strategic development, operational monitoring, and reporting: You will coordinate project teams through program managers and ensure the proper implementation of operational and qualitative aspects of programs (monitoring objectives, meeting deadlines and budgets, quality control, team synergy) in accordance with contractual documents and PUI policies and procedures. You will ensure compliance with contractual obligations and coordinate report writing. You will ensure that developed programs align with PUI's mandate and strategy and propose new interventions based on the evolving humanitarian situation in the region.
  • MEAL: You will coordinate the MEAL department and ensure the implementation of the department's activities as well as interactions with programs and the design of relevant tools.
  • Representation: You will participate in technical forums (working groups) at the local level in collaboration with project managers. You will assist the Field Coordinator in coordination meetings between NGOs or with political and administrative authorities.
  • Human Resources: You will be the direct line manager of project managers at this base and will ensure that appropriate support and capacity building are provided to senior program managers.
  • Logistics and Administration: You will support project managers in overseeing the logistical and administrative tasks of projects with the support of the logistics and administration departments.

The challenges that await you

The main challenges of the position are as follows:

  • Ensure the implementation of a program monitoring mechanism at the grassroots level (3 projects currently being implemented in 3 different areas)
  • Strengthening the quality of programs in Ituri (i.e., management of PMTs, financial monitoring, HR monitoring)
  • Supporting the field coordinator in analyzing the humanitarian context to inform advocacy efforts and program development
  • Ensure the implementation of Première Urgence Internationale's programmatic strategy in the area (i.e., specialization in GBV and mental health, emergency response deployment).

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Education : You can demonstrate a higher education degree (Master 2 or equivalent) in a field related to project management, international development and/or social sciences.
  • Experience : You have at least two years of experience in project management and/or monitoring, two years as a humanitarian project manager, and proven experience in team management. Have you already worked with Première Urgence Internationale? That would be a definite asset!
  • Skills : You are proficient in project management methodology and cycles, and you also possess skills in research and diagnostics. Knowledge of major institutional donors will be an asset.
  • Required qualities : You demonstrate a strong commitment to humanitarian principles, are able to delegate and supervise the work of a multidisciplinary team, and support and build the capacity of project managers. You possess strong analytical and summarization skills, are an excellent communicator, both written and oral, and can deliver effective results under tight deadlines. You are organized, rigorous, flexible, and highly resilient to stress.
  • Languages : Are you fluent in French and English? Great, that's essential for this position!


Special Benefits for this Position

  • Status: Employee on a Fixed-Term Contract
  • Gross monthly salary: €2,340.00 – €2,500.00 depending on your experience in international solidarity + €50 per six-month period of service with PUI
