PATH seeks a Data Quality Specialist for the US Government (UGS)-funded “Reaching Every At-risk Community and Household with Malaria Services” (PMI REACH Malaria) global project. REACH aims to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.
The Data Quality Specialist will report to the MEL Manager and will support the PMI REACH Malaria project in Burundi to strengthen malaria data systems, improve data quality, and promote the use of malaria data for strategic decision-making. The Data quality specialist will work closely with the PNLP, health district teams, and other stakeholders to ensure that malaria data are accurate, timely, and used effectively to guide programmatic actions.

- Lead the design and implementation of malaria data quality improvement plans in collaboration with the PNLP and relevant stakeholders.
- Work with district teams to organize and implement routine data quality assessments (rDQA) at health facilities using standardized tools, and provide support for the analysis of results, and identification and follow-up on identified recommendations for data quality improvement.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of the routine data collected to identify data quality gaps and support corrective actions through mentoring and supervision.
- Support the development and rollout of malaria data quality visualization and feedback mechanisms.
- Implement data validation and cleaning protocols to correct any inconsistencies and enhance the reliability of analyses.
- Facilitate regular malaria data review meetings at national and subnational levels.
- Support PNLP and district teams in interpreting malaria data to inform planning, resource allocation, and targeted interventions.
- Collaborate with the HMIS/DHIS2 team to ensure malaria indicators are accurately captured and reported.
- Contribute to the refinement of malaria indicators, reporting tools and data flow processes.
- Participate in the national SME Technical Working Group.
- Contribute to the development of technical presentations, training materials, SOPs, and reports.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as the NMCP/MOPH, implementing partners, and donors working in the area of surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, and data quality.
