Job Description

La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort is focused on presenting African hospitality and culture in a cosmopolitan manner. The resort boasts of a clean beach, lagoon and mangrove forest that provide visitors with the opportunity to observe, at close quarters, a wide variety of tropical Flora and fauna that include snake trees, mangroves, various species of epiphytes, monkeys, squirrels, bats, and various species of birds such as kingfishers, sea hawks, egrets and ducks.


Job Description

  • We are seeking a Cost Accountant / Kitchen Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate, who is not more than 40 years of age, will oversee the financial aspects of the kitchen and optimize kitchen operations.

Key Deliverables

  • Establish reorder levels for kitchen inventory items and communicate these levels to the accountant responsible for placing orders or restocking the store on time to avoid last-minute rushes
  • Monitor and track the usage of items taken by kitchen staff for meal preparation.
  • Track the total number of people served daily with the meals prepared and reduce wastage.
  • Apply FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory management principles where appropriate to ensure product freshness and minimize spoilage.
  • Control food item costs by reviewing requisitions, storage procedures, and waste control measures.
  • Supervise kitchen staff to ensure adherence to portion sizes, and food preparation standards.
  • Oversee maintenance of the kitchen and surrounding areas to ensure they are kept clean and sanitized, including managing cleaning schedules for floors, mats, walls, hoods, and storage areas.
  • Prepare weekly reports on food items used versus total meals sold, submitting these reports daily.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team and management to analyze costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to source affordable and quality product supply.
  • Ensure gas cylinders are refilled once the reorder level is reached.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting related to kitchen operations and food costs.

  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations in hospitality is an added advantage.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills .
  • Exceptional leadership qualities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines .
  • Excellent time management and reporting skills .
  • Proficiency in Excel and other accounting tools.
  • Strong organizational orientation and ability to assume responsibility for cost accounting tasks.
