Job Description

The Maintenance Carpenter performs skilled carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, repair and alteration of building structures and facilities following recognized procedures and techniques of the carpentry trade and using hand and power tools.

Key Deliverables

  • Project Implementation
    • On a daily basis carry out preventive maintenance of all carpentry fittings, fixtures, wooden floors, all types of locks, closure devices etc., by inspecting, adjusting, patching, oiling moving parts and servicing
    • Complete daily inspection reports and submit to supervisor for signing
    • Inspecting and repairing or replacing of carpentry related parts based and patching up based on inspection report or as directed or specified in the manufacturers manual and completing work completion report for sign off. Replaced parts to be handed over to client with a delivery note
    • Completes assigned carpentry maintenance and repair tasks with quality workmanship by inspecting the work site to determine the materials, equipment, tool requirements and methods to be used
    • Developing a plan or lay out for the carpentry work or following blue print, sketch or schematic diagram
    • Assembling, fabricating or building and installing materials, fittings, fixtures or partitions as required by the scope of work
    • Prepare material requisition as per project requirements
    • Protect client property and equipment from damage during carpentry repairs by carefully removing furniture, wall fixtures and equipment from work sites if possible or covering immovable items with protective cloths, covering floors with cloths or tarpaulins as necessary, and erecting hoarding in a manner that prevents damage
    • Restores office areas and facilities to their original condition at the completion of work by removing debris, hording and equipment used during the work, returning furniture and equipment to their proper location, and setting up equipment, furniture of fixtures that had been dismantled
    • Implement construction or renovation as per the designed project plan
  • Health and Safety
    • Adhere to all safety procedures as well as company safety policies while at the job site and ensure risk assessment is conducted prior to undertaking new tasks
    •  Use tools,equipment and PPE as required for safe operation.
    • Report unsafe conditions, hazards or incidents to the supervisor and EHS Manager
    • Participate in OSH trainings and toolbox sessions
    • Conduct routine checks to tools and equipment to ensure safe use
    • Support the implementation of safety measures during operations

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • A minimum of certificate in Carpentry (Grade I)
  • 5 years of experience as a carpenter
  • Registration with NCA
  • Basic understanding of Project planning and management
