This role will assist in leading the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, operational excellence, internal controls, and people development. The Assistant Financial Controller plays a key part in driving compliance, performance, and financial integrity in support of the hotel’s strategic goals.

What’s in a Day’s Work?
Financial Management & Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Review general ledger accounts and reconcile balance sheet items
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
- Prepare financial reports and detailed analysis to support management decision-making
Operational Oversight
- Supervise accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Income Audit
- Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and daily cash management processes
- Assist with inventory control, cost analysis, and support internal audit processes
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal financial and tax regulations
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of internal financial controls
- Work closely with department heads to ensure adherence to approved budgets
- Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is prepared and submitted as required
- Help maintain financial integrity and mitigate operational and financial risks
Team Leadership
- Provide hands-on guidance, training, and support to junior accounting staff
- Review work for accuracy and timeliness, and coach team members toward continuous improvement
- Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment within the finance team
System and Software Management
- Use SUN accounting software to record and manage financial transactions (essential)
- Support the integration and operation of Micros Materials Control software with financial systems
- Utilize the Opera property management system for financial reporting (essential)
Cost and Budget Management
- Assist in preparing budgets and monitoring expenses to ensure cost control
- Support the identification of cost-saving opportunities and implementation of financial improvements
