The Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe (FCET Gombe) is a federal government-owned tertiary institution located in Gombe, Gombe State, Nigeria.

Salary and Terms of Appointment

  • The salary and conditions of service for the College Librarian shall be as obtainable in the Federal College of Education system in Nigeria.
  • The appointment shall be for a single tenure of five (5) years.

Key Deliverables

  • The College Librarian is a Principal Officer who shall be responsible to the Provost for the administration of the College Library and coordination of library services in the teaching units of the Institution.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Candidates for the Post shall be professionally trained librarians and be of impeccable character, honest and with high moral behaviour.

In addition, the Candidates should also have:

  • A good Bachelor's Degree with Master in Library Science (MLS) from a recognized institution of higher learning with atleast 15 years cognate experience and registration with Professional Library body. Or a Ph.D. in Library and Information Sciences with atleast 12 years cognate work experience with evidence of registration with Professional Library body.
  • Proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
  • Present evidence of sound human relations. Profession competence Industrial integrity, efficient management of human and material resources.
  • Must be Chief Librarian or Deputy Librarian for a period of not less than five years in a College of Education system.
  • Must not be above the age of Fifty-nine (59) at the time of taking up the appointment.
  • Candidate must show evidence of substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable Journals equivalent to that of a Chief Lecturer.
