Job Description

To plan and direct accounting activities within the MIDEMA finance department by performing the tasks below, either personally or through junior staff. Key Duties and Responsibilities: - Oversee the maintenance of the company's accounting records, ensuring that financial transactions are correctly recorded on time - Control accounting entries, prepare the balance sheet and tax return - Ensure the smooth operation of the team as the head of accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, and general accounting - Liaise with the external auditor and, in some cases, with the tax advisor - Liaise with internal auditors (from the parent company, Seaboard, among others) - In addition to the general responsibilities of the chief accountant, the incumbent also supervises the entry, reconciliation, and matching of customer and supplier accounting entries, controls VAT entries, and manages expense reports. Key Deliverables

Be responsible for maintaining the company's accounting records and ensuring the accurate recording of financial transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking operations. - Ensure that accounting entries are correctly recorded in the general ledger. Preparation of financial statements: - Prepare the balance sheet, income statement, and tax return, and then present these documents to internal and external stakeholders (auditors, management, etc.). - Ensure compliance with applicable accounting and tax standards. Management of the accounting team: - Supervise and lead the accounting team, composed of accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, and general accountants. - Delegate tasks, provide training, and evaluate the performance of the team. Collaboration with auditors and chartered accountants: - Serve as the primary contact for the auditor. Provide the necessary information during audits. - Collaborate with the tax advisor on specific projects. Financial Analysis and Budgetary Control: - Participate in the analysis of the company's financial performance. Identify discrepancies and propose corrective measures. - Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget and monitor its execution. - Ensure regulatory and tax compliance and stay informed of legal and tax developments to adapt accounting practices accordingly. - Manage the company's fixed assets and coordinate inventories. Management Reports: - Write management reports for management, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement. Hierarchical Organization: - Reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Key Relationships: Internal Relationships - Directors,Finance and Financial Controller - Management Team / Department Managers - Operations Site Managers - Human Resources Departments. Responsibilities: In addition to ongoing responsibilities, ad hoc tasks may be added as requested by management.

Professional Qualifications

Industry Qualification
Finance, Accounting And Assurance Services Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent professional certification is an added advantage. At least seven (7) years working experience in a busy business company, preferably a large taxpayer company on this position or a similar financial position. Computer literate in excel and accounting software. Should have knowledge of corporate income tax computation and tax filing
