Job Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing their products and services revenue streams by achieving set sales targets and building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients, ensuring visibility and delivery of high-quality customer service to existing and potential clients. The successful candidate will develop business plans and strategies to achieve sales, customer experience, and profitability goals.
They will identify business opportunities and prospects by evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analysing sales options, selling products by establishing contacts and developing relationships with prospects and recommending solutions.
The Business Development Manager maintains relationships with partners and clients by providing support, information, and guidance, researching and recommending new opportunities, and recommending profit and service improvements. This role requires being at their offices 5 days a week.

- Identify, profile, and convert new B2B sales opportunities within assigned territories.
- Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with revenue and growth targets.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners.
- Manage the whole end-to-end sales process, including proposals, negotiations, contracting, and handover.
- Conduct market research and gather commercial intelligence to identify new opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
- Attend industry events, meetings, and networking opportunities to raise brand visibility.
- Monitor performance against targets and provide regular sales and pipeline reporting.
- Act as a trusted commercial advisor to clients, identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
Professional Qualifications

| Business Development, Sales, Marketing and Retail | Proven, current experience in B2B business development or sales within freight forwarding or international logistics. This is a mandatory requirement. Candidates without direct freight forwarding sales experience will not be considered for this role. Experience must include selling one or more of the following services: Air and/or sea freight Cross-border road freight Customs clearance and documentation End-to-end import/export logistics Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets. Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation and closing skills. Confident relationship-builder, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders. Able to independently build and progress a freight forwarding sales pipeline and begin converting opportunities within the first 3–6 months. Experience working in or with East African markets, particularly Uganda, is highly desirable. Highly organised, self-motivated, and results-driven. Strong communication and presentation skills. Proficient in CRM systems and standard business tools (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. |
