Job Description

Emel Hospital Festac Town, Lagos, Nigeria isa multi-specialists’ hospital, situated at 21 Road, Z Close in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Lagos, Nigeria. Emel Hospital is a purpose-built 44 bed hospital situated on a piece of land specially approved for its purpose by the Federal Housing Authority.


Emel Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He is the board chairman and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal is a non-executive director.

Job Description

  • The Maintenance Officer is responsible for ensuring the hospital’s facilities, equipment, and utilities are functioning efficiently, safely, and reliably at all times.
  • The role ensures timely identification, reporting, and resolution of maintenance issues, supporting uninterrupted healthcare delivery.

Salary: N130,000 - N150,000 Monthly.

Key Deliverables

Facility & Equipment Maintenance:

  • Carry out routine inspection, servicing, and minor repairs of hospital equipment, fittings, and infrastructure.
  • Monitor the performance of key utilities (electricity, water supply, generators, inverters, ACs, and plumbing).
  • Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are developed and strictly followed.

Maintenance Requests & Reporting:

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by departments.
  • Record and report all maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements to the Hospital Manager.
  • Maintain an updated logbook/register of all maintenance tasks and completed works.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the hospital premises.
  • Identify and promptly escalate hazards, faulty wiring, leakages, or structural issues.
  • Support periodic safety audits and inspections.

Vendor/Contractor Coordination:

  • Supervise external technicians, contractors, and vendors while on hospital premises.
  • Ensure quality of work delivered by external parties meets hospital standards.
  • Assist in obtaining quotations and evaluating service providers when necessary.

Asset & Inventory Management:

  • Keep track of maintenance tools, spare parts, Hospital Furniture & Fittings and consumables.
  • Ensure proper usage and accountability of maintenance resources.
  • Advise the Hospital Manager on needs for replacement or procurement of maintenance-related items.

Support Operations:

  • Assist in setting up and maintaining electrical, plumbing, and IT cabling infrastructure.
  • Provide timely feedback to the Hospital Manager on recurring maintenance issues.
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by Management.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • HND / B.Sc. in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Building Technology, Estate Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in maintenance (preferably in a healthcare or hospitality environment).
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC (Heating, ventilation & Air Conditioning), and generator/inverter systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly under pressure.
  • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
