Job Description
What will your role be?
Reporting to the AFD Bujumbura office management, you will identify projects, develop and monitor the portfolio of operations in the areas of vocational training, integration and energy, as well as sectoral dialogue with AFD partners (national authorities, donors, NGOs, civil society).
The scope of operations and sectors covered by the position may change over time or depending on operational needs.

1. You will participate in the coordination, development and monitoring of operational activities:
- prospect and identify projects in the dedicated sectors;
- participate in the instruction, evaluation and formalization of projects;
- monitor project execution: monitoring the implementation of activities, results, financial audits, procurement, contractual commitments, disbursements, technical assistance programs, etc.;
- participate in the animation of the project team (in conjunction with headquarters);
- organize and support the supervision missions of the agency or AFD Headquarters and attend technical meetings and mission restitutions.
2. You contribute to the intellectual production of the agency and participate in the animation of the sectoral dialogue:
- develop intellectual production initiatives;
- ensure sectoral monitoring, produce summary notes;
- roll out the group's sectoral strategy at the country level;
- contribute to the definition of the country strategy;
- represent AFD in sectoral groups.
3. You ensure all external contacts within the framework of these activities:
- establish and maintain contacts with the agency's local partners (local authorities, French embassy, donors, counterparts, NGOs, etc.);
- represent AFD vis-à-vis national authorities, service providers and other technical and financial partners, particularly in sectoral consultations.

You have proven experience in project management on donor-funded development projects or programs, preferably in the vocational training sector and/or private sector/employment and/or energy (minimum 5 years of experience). International experience would be an asset. Your knowledge and experience are open to all types of sectors and initial training (economist, engineer, sector experts of all kinds, etc.). More specifically, your knowledge focuses on project preparation and management, the area and actors in charge of the sectors, and donor procedures. 2. Human/relational qualities: You demonstrate professional rigor and reliability. You have good listening skills and have strong analytical and synthesis skills, to prioritize, organize and plan, to work in an intercultural environment and to demonstrate flexibility, learning and adaptation skills. Your writing and communication skills are proven. You also demonstrate openness and curiosity, particularly in the context of a possible expansion of the portfolio of projects to be managed. You demonstrate patience, tenacity, proactivity, and initiative. You have a sense of teamwork in a collaborative position and have good interpersonal skills, open and curious. You have already worked in a volatile and pressured security context. You are fully fluent in French as well as the Windows Office Pack. 3.
