Key Deliverables

The Agronomist, reporting to the Head of the Field Office, provides technical support for the implementation of the Project's agroforestry activities. In detail, but not exhaustively, their tasks will include: * Providing technical support to producers from the establishment of nurseries, land preparation, and planting to the management and operation of agroforestry plantations (technical guidelines, sustainable practices); * Supervising the establishment and maintenance of agroforestry systems, ensuring compliance with technical standards and quality criteria applicable to PES activities; * Providing training and awareness-raising for beneficiaries; * Managing orders and supplies of equipment and seeds; * Ensuring the technical compliance of agroforestry plots with the requirements of the Payments for Environmental Services (PES) mechanism, particularly regarding planting density, survival rates, firebreak maintenance, and sustainable practices; * Contribute, in conjunction with the MRV Manager, to the collection and technical validation of data required for monitoring and evaluation reports and the justification of PSE results; * Support any member of the Project team on technical issues related to agronomy; * Supervise and technically coordinate the mobilization and work of local technical agents (from decentralized technical services and/or specifically recruited by the Project), involved in supporting producers and monitoring agroforestry plantations; * Report regularly to the Head of Field Office.

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Hold a university degree equivalent to a Bachelor's degree (Bac+3) in agronomy, forestry, natural resource management, environmental science or a related field.
  • Have at least 5 years of professional experience in managing a team (technical agents, producers or community liaisons) for the implementation of agricultural activities;
  • Have at least 5 years of professional experience in the installation and monitoring of agroforestry plantations;
  • Proven experience in project management is an asset;
  • A good knowledge of the Project area and local dynamics is an asset.
  • Fluency in French and Lingala;
  • Ability to work in a team and to supervise technical agents and producers;
  • Ability to train, raise awareness and promote good agricultural and agroforestry practices;
  • Ability to understand and apply the technical requirements of the Payments for Environmental Services (PES) mechanism;
  • Rigour, organisational skills and ability to work in a rural environment.
