Job Description

Since 1997, Action Against Hunger (ACF) has been engaged in the fight against malnutrition in the DRC.

Drawing on its expertise in rapid response and emergency management of nutritional crises in the areas most in need in the DRC, ACF has successfully deployed large-scale projects addressing the nutritional crisis in Congo thanks to the support of several local and international partners such as the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS), the Ministry of Public Health of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) among others.

Thanks to its partners, ACF operates in several cities and localities such as Mbuji-Mayi, Mweso, Bambo, Drodro, Mongbwalu, Kwamouth, Masiambio but also has operational offices in Goma, Bunia and Kinshasa.                                                                                                                                                                                                   

As part of its activities, Action Against Hunger is looking for a (one) Daily Driver for its Coordination Office in Kinshasa.

Key Deliverables

Mission 1: To transport people and goods in safe conditions

  • Transporting ACF employees and/or goods in compliance with national traffic regulations, according to schedules and directives from the line manager;
  • In case of an accident, immediately take the necessary steps at the nearest police station and inform the logistics department as soon as possible;
  • Use the vehicle according to the manufacturer's recommendations and ACF rules;
  • Have all personal documents and vehicle documents with you and ensure their validity.

Mission 2: Ensure vehicle maintenance 

  • Resolve minor technical problems;
  • Notify the logistics department of major repairs to be carried out;
  • Perform daily checks before starting;
  • Clean the vehicle;
  • Ensure radio communications;
  • Record in the logbook the fuel consumption at the beginning and end of the day and any information relating to vehicle maintenance;
  • Check the security trunks;
  • Check the condition of the vehicle and its equipment, maintain them in good condition and report any anomalies immediately;
  • Follow the Manager's recommendations regarding the use of vehicles.

 Mission 3: Prepare for field deployments 

  • Inspect and prepare the vehicle the day before departure in order to be ready on time;
  • Prepare additional equipment to take with you as needed (fuel, stickers, flags, tools, medical kit).

Essential Qualities

Essential Qualities
  • Secondary level in automotive mechanics and electricity;
  • Driving license.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a similar position;
  • Proven experience within an international NGO;
  • Good communication skills and a service-oriented mindset;
  • Flexibility, organizational skills and adaptability;
  • Mastery of the Highway Code;
  • Basic knowledge of automotive mechanics and electricity;
  • Proficiency in French and Lingala (spoken);
  • Excellent knowledge of the city-province of Kinshasa;
  • Basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, etc.);
  • Rigour and punctuality;
  • Strict adherence to internal procedures and safety rules;
  • Discretion and a high sense of confidentiality;
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit.
