THE JOB
The Waiter/Waitress will be at the forefront of creating exciting guests' dining experiences in a designated restaurant through excellent waiter services
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Guest Service:
· Greet guests warmly upon arrival, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
· Provide detailed explanations of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and any specials or promotions.
· Take accurate food and beverage orders while considering guests' dietary preferences and restrictions.
· Offer recommendations and suggestions to enhance guests' dining experiences.
· Ensure timely delivery of orders from the kitchen to the tables.
- Order Processing:
· Transmit orders accurately to the kitchen staff, ensuring special requests and modifications are conveyed clearly.
· Collaborate with the kitchen team to manage any changes to orders and communicate these changes to guests.
- Table Maintenance:
· Set up tables with appropriate utensils, glassware, and linens before guests arrive.
· Maintain clean and organized tables throughout guests' dining experiences.
· Clear used dishes, utensils, and glassware promptly to ensure a clutter-free dining environment.
- Beverage Service:
· Recommend and serve beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, in accordance with legal regulations and hotel policies.
· Suggest wine pairings and offer a selection of beverages to complement guests' meals.
- Customer Engagement:
· Engage in friendly conversations with guests to enhance their dining experience and build rapport.
· Address any concerns, complaints, or special requests from guests promptly and professionally.
- Team Collaboration:
· Work closely with the kitchen, bar, and other service staff to ensure smooth and coordinated service delivery.
· Communicate effectively with colleagues to facilitate a seamless guest experience.
- Upselling and Revenue Generation:
· Suggest additional items, such as appetizers, desserts, or specialty drinks, to increase sales and enhance guests' experiences.
- Hygiene and Safety:
· Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
· Handle and serve food and beverages in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Payment Processing:
· Accurately process guests' payments, including cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
· Provide guests with itemized bills and process transactions efficiently.
QUALIFICATIONS
The job holder should have the following qualifications.
1. Diploma in Food and Beverage services.
2. Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a well-established 4- or 5-star hotel.
3. Professional affiliation to a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and competencies.
- Previous experience as a waiter/waitress in a fine dining restaurant or upscale hotel is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service procedures, including proper table setting and etiquette.
- Familiarity with wine and beverage pairing is an advantage.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
