Job Purpose Statement

To Provide legal support, advice and opinion(s) relating to the conduct of the business and support units of the Bank based on sound legal principles.

Protect the overall Bank’s interests in line with the Bank’s policies and Procedures and prevailing laws and regulations of Uganda.

To assess and analyse key department risks and recommend mitigations and any other roles as may be assigned from time to time.

Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities) Perspective

Internal business processes

  • Take all the necessary precaution to minimise costs within the department.
  • Ensure that invoices by legal service providers are thoroughly vetted, adequately negotiated and properly approved before settlement;

Drive customer satisfaction through adherence to set service Level Agreements and issuing timely feedback to stakeholders.

Legal Services Management :

  • Support the Manager Legal Services & Regulatory Affairs to monitor and ensure that legal and Compliance policies are complied with and encourage the optimum performance of the department to ensure turnaround time (TAT) is adhered to by the department.
  • Manage the bank’s relationships with providers of external legal services to ensure value maximization for the bank.
  • Ensure proper documentation and security perfection in favour of the Bank.
  • Ensure all invoices of fees are negotiated and settled in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Support the team to ensure that there are no repeat audit findings and also maintain timely assessment of the department risks and controls.
