Job Ad & Profile Description
Position : Leadership Training Expert
The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) has received financing from the African Development Fund toward the cost of the Regional Institutional Support Project for Public Financial Governance – Phase II (RISPFG) and intends to apply part of the agreed amount for this Grant to payments under the contract for Leadership Training Expert.
The services included under this project are:
- Focus: defining individual, subunit, departmental and organizational goals clearly. How to lead teams and achieve set goals and intended objectives in propelling the institution to a world class beacon of excellence.
- Communication: how to influence and get buy in from others.
- Prioritising, planning, and delegating how to stay in control through prioritizing, planning and delegation through various possibilities.
- Conflict resolution: how to ensure there is harmony in the group without stifling the opinions of staff or imposing her own biases.
- Inspiring and motivating staff so that officers under their supervision will remain productive and target oriented to improve institutional capacity and professionalism.
- Mentorship and succession planning: how to groom other leaders and how to impart mentorship skills in training / coaching thereby having a committed, competent and high performing workforce.
Required profile for job ad : Leadership Training Expert
The Individual expert is expected to have among others the following qualifications and key competencies:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent in Taxation, Accounting, Political sciences, Law, Business administration, Economics and any other related field,
- Minimum 5-10 years of demonstrated work experience in auditing, analysis of policy and regulatory framework, tax investigations, tax crime analysis and utilisation of legally sound risk methodologies and technologies to mitigate compliance and operational risks,
- In depth knowledge of auditing the financial sector with specific emphasis on the insurance sector,
- Experience in the provision of technical assistance in an international organisation,
- Demonstrated experience in providing technical assistance relating to auditing and tax administration and have a broad understanding of the socio-economic dynamics of African countries,
- Should have good knowledge of the tax systems in Africa,
- Good report writing, communication and presentation skills,
- Good command of the written and spoken English, and fluency in French and Portuguese is an added advantage,
- Computer literacy,
- Excellent strategic and analytical skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are added advantages.
