Job Description

Introduction

WWF is an international non-governmental organization founded in 1961, working to build a future where people live in harmony with nature. WWF TCO is seeking a consultant to conduct a midterm review of the Forest Landscape Restoration (FLR) Initiative in Africa. The Initiative aims to restore 13.5 million hectares of degraded and deforested landscapes across nine African countries: Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe by 2027. This will support the AFR100 commitments and contribute to the Bonn Challenge goals.

The review will assess progress against the Initiative’s three key pillars: enabling policy and governance frameworks, financial mechanisms, and on-ground restoration efforts. Key tasks include evaluating the effectiveness of governance structures, stakeholder engagement, and resource allocation, as well as identifying challenges and providing recommendations for adaptive management. The review will involve desk studies, online surveys, and field visits to Cameroon, Kenya, Madagascar, and Zambia.

We are looking for a consultant with experience in evaluating large-scale environmental projects, expertise in forest landscape restoration, and knowledge of the AFR100 framework.
